Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions, usually associated with a buildup of pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure), that causes damage to the optic nerve, resulting in vision loss. Glaucoma is a chronic disease and for most patients, symptoms do not typically appear until damage has already been done to the optic nerve.
