While no intraocular lens can exactly mimic the vision you may have had in your youth, trifocal lenses provide the latest advancements in vision technology. Will I ever need to wear glasses or contact lenses again?
You should experience good vision for most day-to-day activities without the need for glasses. However, common to all intraocular lenses, you may find that detailed tasks, such as reading fine print, are further improved by wearing glasses.

What can I expect in the days immediately following surgery?
Your surgeon will provide instructions for how to care for your eye after surgery. One to two days following your procedure, you will have a follow-up appointment. After surgery on the first eye, you may not notice clear vision until after your second eye has been treated. After surgery on the second eye, most patients experience good vision in the first few days after surgery. A day or two after the procedure, you may notice some glare with bright lights or halos around lights, particularly at night.&

What can I expect more than one week after surgery?
Some patients may take longer to adapt to their new vision, as the brain learns to see through the new lens. Achieving good vision can take anywhere from a few days to several months. In rare cases, some patients may require a minor “touch up” procedure to refine vision. Once you have settled into your new vision, you can enjoy activities such as reading, ordering from a menu, seeing clearly in the mirror, and wearing non-prescription sunglasses while driving.

What can I expect one year after surgery and beyond?
It is unlikely that you will experience significant changes in your vision in the years after your surgery. If you are under 65, you should have your vision checked every two years. If you are over 65, annual eye health checks are recommended. If you notice any changes in your vision, schedule an appointment with your eye doctor.
