About Kahook Goniotomy
KDB is a high-tech, single-use ophthalmic blade used to treat glaucoma with a procedure called goniotomy, which is typically at the time of cataract surgery. (The KDB may also be used to perform goniotomy as a stand-alone procedure.)
Goniotomy is a proven procedure in which the diseased tissue blocking fluid from flowing out of the eye is removed. It has been safely performed for decades on men, women and children, and over the years, technology has advanced and new instruments, such as the KDB have been developed to help reduce risks and improve post-op recovery.
Goniotomy with the Kahook Dual Blade is quick and painless outpatient procedure, with a low risk of leaks or infections and no need for sutures. Patients also experience quicker recovery when compared with other glaucoma treatment options.
