Peter Koerner, OD

Dr. Koerner, a National Board Certified Optometrist, joined The Eye Center full-time at the beginning of 2020. As a primary eye care provider, he performs comprehensive eye exams for adults. Utilizing cutting edge medical technology, he manages diseases like glaucoma, while also assisting Dr. Clary in the Dry Eye Specialty Clinic. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, and currently serves on the Board for the Midlands Optometric Society as Treasurer.

Dr. Koerner’s optometric background includes training at the Naval Health Care Center in Quantico, VA, the Huntington Veteran’s Hospital in Huntington, WV, and the Omni Eye Center in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry in 2012. While at Indiana, he served as class representative on student senate, and was chosen as a member of The Gold Key Optometric Society for his leadership. Prior to Optometry school, Dr. Koerner attended Wheeling Jesuit University, graduating on the Dean’s List. While earning his degree in Biology, Dr. Koerner was also a 3 year captain on the Nationally Ranked NCAA Div. II Men’s Lacrosse team.

Dr. Koerner and his wife, Danielle, welcomed their first child , Jack in January of 2020. In his free time, Dr. Koerner enjoys playing hockey and rooting for the Chicago Cubs. He can be found on the weekends with his family spending time outdoors and on the lake with their dogs, Nala and Teddy.
