Intraocular Lens Options

Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are permanent, artificial lenses that are surgically implanted inside the eye. They are used to replace the eye’s natural lens when it becomes cloudy due to cataracts and can restore both near and distant vision.

Thinking about IOL?

An intraocular lens (or IOL) is a tiny, artificial lens for the eye. It replaces the eye’s natural lens that is removed during cataract surgery. During cataract surgery, the natural, cloudy lens is removed and an IOL is implanted to restore clear vision.

The new lens bends (refracts) light rays that enter the eye, helping you to see.  IOLs come in various types, each with specific features and benefits. Which IOL is used depends on your individual needs and the recommendations of the ophthalmologist who will be performing your cataract surgery.
